Summer REU 2011

The summer 2011 Research for Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the Center for Research Computing hosted thirteen undergraduate students who spent 10 weeks learning how to use the most current cyberinfrastructure tools. They received training on fundamental scientific computing skills and techniques to work on designated projects. Each student had a mentor and was tasked with their own research problem in which they used the resources of the CRC to investigate. Research ranged from designing three-dimensional games to using crowdsource techniques to gather data to examining ionic liquids and seeing the promising outlook in their efficiency of capturing carbon dioxide emissions.
