Data Management Day 2011

Data Management Day was held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 1-5'o clock in DeBartolo Hall. The event was sponsored by the Center for Research Computing and Hesburgh Libraries. The main goal was to raise awareness of a broad range of issues regarding the management of research data, from collection and preservation, to analysis tools and legal issues.

Scientific Computing Workshop 2011

The 2011 Scientific Computing Workshop was held on Wednesday, February 23rd from 1-5pm in McKenna Hall. This workshop was open to all faculty, students, and staff at Notre Dame with an interest in computing applied to scientific problems. The program featured nationally recognized experts in scientific computing on clusters, clouds, and grids.

User Group 2010

This year's User Group Meeting was held in McKenna Hall on Wednesday, November 10th. Users and CRC staff mingled at a lunch reception, followed by presentations from CRC Director Jarek Nabrzyski, Associate Directors Paul Brenner and Chris Sweet, and User Support Manager Tim Stitt. The event concluded with a tour of the off-campus data center at Union Station, where CRC hosts its computation clusters and storage systems.

GIS Day 2010

Every year the GAL lab brings national GIS Day home to Notre Dame by hosting an event here on campus with the goal of building a community of interest around the display and manipulation of geospatial data. This year's event, held in Jordan Auditorium in the Mendoza College of Business on Friday November 19, kicked off with an opening reception and poster session, followed by a series of short videos introducing GIS. Notre Dame's Ron Kraemer, VP of Information Technologies and CIO, gave the welcoming remarks to open a full afternoon of lectures.
