web2py is a free and open source framework for agile development of fast, scalable, secure, and portable database-driven web-based applications. web2py is written and is programmable in the Python language. web2py won the 2011 Bossie Award for best open source application development software and the 2012 Technology of the Year Award from InfoWorld.

About Massimo Di Pierro

Massimo Di Pierro is Associate Professor at the School of Computing of DePaul University in Chicago and director of the Master of Science in Computational Finance. He has a Ph.D. in High Energy Theoretical Physics from the University of Southampton (UK). His expertise is in Scientific and Financial Computing, Parallel Computing, and Web Application Development. He has published papers in the fields of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics, Computer Science, and Risk Management. Massimo is active in many open source projects and, specifically, he is the lead developer of web2py.
