Senior Personnel for Center for Research Computing led grant, CI Compass, receives Phil Andrews Award at PEARC 2022

On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Kerk Kee, Senior Personnel from CI Compass and Associate Professor at Texas Tech University, and Shafaq Chaudhry, CI Compass co-collaborator and Director of Research Technology for Graduate and Research Information Technology at the University of Central Florida, earned an award for “Best Full Paper” in the "Workforce Development, Training, Diversity, and Education" category at PEARC 2022 (Practice & Research in Advanced Research Computing). On Thursday, July 14, 2022, the paper was then recognized with the "Phil Andrews Award,” a distinction giving it the top paper at the conference.

The title of the paper is “Understanding Factors that Influence Research Computing and Data Careers.” The complete list of co-authors include Shafaq Chaudhry, Arman Pazouki, Patrick Schmitz, Elizabett Hillery, and Kerk Kee

The paper was presented at PEARC 2022 in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 12, 2022.

According to PEARC, “The Phil Andrews award is granted to a manuscript deemed to be the most impactful in practice of research computing, broadly interpreted to encompass all areas in scientific research, technical innovation, state of practice and workforce development. Determination of the award is made by the combination of reviewer recommendations, track chair/co-chair recommendations, and an Awards committee jury selecting from the best papers awarded in all tracks.”
