Computing & Data

The Center for Research Computing (CRC) operates a supercomputing infrastructure that provides advanced computing support to researchers and professors at the University of Notre Dame, as well as external organizations. The CRC's data center is operated according to industry standards and allows for flexible growth in physical footprint and utility demands.

The CRC operates the Global Access Point (GAP) Union Station facility, located near campus in downtown South Bend, at 310 W. South Street. CRC system engineers have full time offices at Union Station to provide rapid response. Additionally, the GAP’s 24/7 Network Operation Center ensures secure customer access and emergency response capabilities, including:

  • Three separate power grids with Uninterrupted Power Supply
  • Redundant climate control technology
  • Advanced sensors monitoring temperature, humidity, and smoke
  • FM-200 fire suppression
  • Advanced security
