Computational Social Science

Who Should Apply

Applicants with the following attributes are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • U.S. citizens and permanent residents majoring in computer science, psychology, economics, or sociology.
  • Women and minorities that are under-represented in the sciences.

When to Apply 

The application period is closed for 2019.

Below is the general timeline for the 2020 CSS REU program:

  • Early February - Applications open online.
  • Early March - Applications received by this date will be given first consideration.
  • Mid March - Notification of acceptance will be made.
  • Mid May - Students move into campus housing.
  • Mid May -  CSS REU program begins.
  • Late July - CSS REU program ends and students move out of campus housing.

How to Apply

  1. Identify the 3-5 available research projects that are of most interest. You will need to indicate these on your application.
  2. Submit the online application. 
  3. Arrange for two letters of reference to be sent to crcreu@nd.edu.

Data Intensive Scientific Computing

Who Should Apply

Applicants with the following attributes are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • US citizens and permanent residents majoring in computer science, physics, or biology (and closely related fields).
  • Students with some degree of programming experience and some exposure to the physical sciences.
  • Students with minors or double majors across two or three of the topical areas.
  • Women and minorities that are under-represented in the sciences.

When to Apply
